March 30, 2019::According to the United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), South Asia is the fastest-growing and second-largest region for human trafficking in the world after East Asia. Most human trafficking victims come from poor rural areas, lured with promises of good jobs, only to find themselves forced to work in fields or brick kilns, confined in homes as domestic workers or as commercial sex workers.

Myanmar task force rescues trafficked Nepalese national
February 7, 2019::In a late-night development on Tuesday, the Yangon anti-trafficking task force of Myanmar rescued a girl of Nepalese origin, who is believed to be one of the 301 Nepalese nationals said to have been trafficked through the Manipur-Myanmar border, as reported earlier.

Nepalese trafficking incident: Myanmar police rescues one victim; another trafficked to Kuwait
February 5, 2019::In what could be a major development in the recent Nepalese trafficking incident, a girl, understood to be one among the 301 females trafficked, has been rescued by the Yangon Anti Trafficking task force on February 5. The victim, who was saved by the task force along with the immigration centre at Pazunduang, had made a distress call to her family upon which they sought help from an NGO.

More than 100 Nepalese Girls Rescued from Traffickers in Manipur
February 5, 2019::In a major crackdown, over 100 Nepalese girls were rescued while they were being trafficked
from Manipur to Myanmar and further to Southeast Asian as well as gulf countries. The operation
was conducted by the Manipur police along with the help of NGOs based in Nepal and India.

Trafficked Nepalis to be sent back to their country
February 5, 2019::Police are verifiying the credentials of 183 Nepali citizens, which includes 166 women,
rescued during operations at the border town of Moreh and Imphal a couple of days ago. Once the
process is over, they would be repatriated.

Identity verification of rescued victims of trafficking in process at Nepal
February 4, 2019::After the recent rescue operation of the victims of human trafficking at Moreh and Imphal, 176 women and 17 men rescued so far are under identity verification at Nepal as they have been identified as Nepali nationals.

It has been reported that 301 Nepalese women have already crossed Indo-Myanmar border since December 2018 to January this year. Regarding their information, Impulse Network, NGO’s had been communicating with Myanmar YMCA and investigations are going on, said programme manager Impulse Network, Emarine Kharbhih.

At least 130 Nepali girls rescued from India-Myanmar border in two days
February 3, 2019:At least 130 Nepali girls, who were being trafficked into Myanmar, have been rescued from various parts of Manipur, a northeastern state of India, in the last two days in a massive bust of a human trafficking network.

107 Nepalese Women Rescued in Manipur
February 3, 2019:Manipur police in collaboration with BSF have rescued around 107 Nepalese women from being trafficked. According to local sources, police rescued these women from Moreh, Manipur who were being trafficked into Myanmar through Moreh, which falls along the India-Myanmar border. According to police sources, while they were able to rescue 107 women, more than 60 had already been trafficked to Myanmar through the same route between January 29 to 30.

Manipur Police Rescue 183 In Ongoing Anti-Human Trafficking Operation
February 3, 2019:As many as 183 people — 32 men and 151 women — have been rescued in an ongoing crackdown on an international human trafficking racket in the Northeast, Manipur police said today. Police personnel are still conducting raids across the region, including Imphal, and eight people have been arrested so far.

Over 100 Nepali women rescued from India in three days
February 3, 2019::A multi-agency operation, including Maiti Nepal, an anti-trafficking organisation of Nepal, and Indian Police has rescued 104 Nepali women aged between 20-35 years from Manipur and Delhi of India since January 30.

The operation has stumbled upon an organised racket, trafficking Nepali women to Gulf countries; and Manipur, one of the north-east states of India, which is a new transit point for the trafficked women for travelling to the Gulf countries via Myanmar.

February 2, 2019:Over 107 Nepali women were rescued from Manipur of India by the local police on Friday, Indian media reports said on Saturday. The women from Nepal were being trafficked to Myanmar through Moreh, which falls along the India-Myanmar border, according to United News of India.
