Dr. Ashley Varghese is our voluntary/pro-bono Strategic & Legal Advisor for Impulse NGO Network.

Dr. Ashley Co-founded Justice and Care, a leading international anti-trafficking non-profit agency.  Previously he has worked with International Justice Mission (IJM), Academy for Educational Development (AED)/USAID, and liaised with law enforcement internationally to work on cases involving human trafficking, gender-based violence, and child sex abuse.

A criminal lawyer by profession Dr. Ashley went on to complete a path-breaking Ph.D. with the School of Law, the University of Edinburgh in Human Trafficking and Models of Governing Security.

As former CEO of an anti-slavery Non-Profit, Ashley worked with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection command of the NCA, Crown Prosecution Agency, Indian police to pioneer the United Kingdom’s first extra-territorial prosecution under the Sexual Offenses Act 2003.

Ashley also pioneered action research on Governing Security and tackling human trafficking across Europe and South Asia. Governing security look at addressing the needs of security and justice in countries affected by human trafficking, child abuse, and sexual violence as an organized crime.

Over 21 years Dr. Ashley has successfully pioneered and implemented successful multidisciplinary strategies that have enabled countries to effectively secure and manage their borders, improve child protection and tackle gender-based violence.
